Gladstone – 17 April 2011

How lucky could we be! The forecast bad weather arrived Monday, leaving us with near perfect skies for our ride.

Nine regulars, plus visitor, Scott on his tricked up R1 left Quay Street then onto Gin Gin via the Ring Road and Cedars crossing. Here we were joined by Tony and Cathy Pico who went as far as Miriam Vale and then returned home.

The fuel stop at Miriam Vale was a non event, most of the bowsers out of action as well as dysfunctional toilets; we may have to find a new fuel stop in the town.

All went well until Gladstone there’s just too many roundabouts (remember Maryborough?).

Most of us managed to find our way to the excellent Boles street lookout, then Warren took off to find a couple of missing riders (Peter W and Harry S).

We all eventually headed to Calliope for a great B.B.Q. lunch provided by ex members Steve and Irene Donohoe for a very reasonable $5 per head.

Fuelling up at Benaraby we rode nonstop through the Agnes Waters Road somehow avoiding the enormous pot holes to Avondale Pub for a refreshment or two.

Scott claimed his R1 seat is definitely not made for the Rosedale Road.

Another good BDMEC ride.
