Murgon 18th Sept 2011

Six riders turned up at the river bank for the days ride to Murgon. We got away a bit late after a bit of a chat and headed on down the road to Maryborough.

After a short break we were off again turning of the Bruce through the back roads to Kilkivan were we stopped for fuel.

It was fairly hot in the driveway with no real shade so it wasn’t long till we were rolling again. Talking about rolling, a funny thing happened. It appears as though some bikes roll really well uphill and around corners because a Ducati and an ageing Suzuki did just that disappearing out of site, as we travelled through that neat little range at Tansey.

Back on the highway and back to normal we proceed through Goomeri and on to Murgon. The roads are noticeably better out there but it was good to stop for lunch at the RSL and enjoy a quite drink.

After lunch an enjoyable run back to Biggenden where we stopped at the servo for a spell.

Moving on we traversed the north south road and through the back way to Cordalba for a refresher.

On arrival at the pub we were all highly entertained by an old gentleman who just may have been there a bit too long, who was very excited to see the bikes.

Maybe excited doesn’t really describe his mood maybe elated, whatever it was it was all the more amusing when his long suffering wife tried to coax him to leave failing several times.

Possibly this was the highlight of the day as I’m sure everyone rode home with a smile on their face. It certainly topped of a good day for me.
