December 2015 Mystery Ride.

20th December 2015.

Eight members with one pillion and Two guests, Aldo on a Suzuki Boulevard and Rick on a Yamaha YZF, totaling ten bikes met at Quay Street under threatening clouds. Waved off by member Tony W who stayed home to entertain his Christmas visitors, we proceeded South along Goodwood Road where just past the Woodgate Turn off we turned right taking the scenic back roads to Childers and coming out at the park near the Peanut van. Heading North another scenic back road took us to Apple Tree Creek and the service station. After a short stop, it was onwards under the overpass and along the highway to Booyal where the road was good and the traffic light. On reaching Booyal a left turn towards Dallarnill should have had most riders thinking of Paradise (Dam, that is). The road in was in good condition, naturally so was the road out and to the surprise of all there was zero traffic in or out. Happy days for some riders.

After some socialising at the dam look out and a drink and a nibble we had an enjoyable ride back to the dam turn off we turned towards Dallarnill. On meeting the Biggenden / Childers highway we turned towards Childers and home. All was well until the ride leader embarrassingly overshot the North South Road turn off (Probably concentrating too much on the speedo, the clock and a very ugly sky) and then had to having to turn around and overtake the stationary pack and resume the lead. We continued over some recently laid blue metal and tar, across Highway One, past Isis Mill and onto the highway. On reaching Bonna Road we turned off and journeyed along this road, down the new flood escape road onto Branyan Drive, past a blue light taxi (whose driver was counselling an unlucky driver) through town and onto Oodies Cafe over North for lunch.

From all reports Lunch, coffee etc. was all good. There was a comment from a certain member who could never remember traveling 220 Kilometers overĀ  three and a half hours to have lunch just three and half kilometers from where we left that morning. I guess there is a first time for everything, after all it was a Mystery Ride.

Thanks for Warren for acting as Tail End Charlie.
