Bundaberg and District Motorcycle Enthusiasts Club

2017- 2018 Presidents Report.

While there have been no major exciting new events to report I believe our club has maintained a happy status quo over the last year or so. While new members appear to be difficult to come by the continued input from all current members has seen the club continue to thrive and provide an outlet for our commitment to riding and enjoyment of motorcycling.

We have had some interesting ride sover the last twelve months including two overnight rides to “new” destinations, being the Ipswich Rail Museum and the Cracow Pub. Once again the club must acknowledge the input by John A and Tony Webber for organising these rides.

As usual thanks go to all Ride Leaders and Tail End Charlies. Again the usual core group of people fulfil these roles and help us all to enjoy our rides.

Once again there have been a number of club members who always attend meetings and help sort rides, Christmas parties and other club events. Usually these are the same people who lead rides, suffer home invasions and assist in other ways. The club would be much poorer without their contributions and in fact could not exist. All members should thank members such as Tony Webber, Terry Bielenberg, Peter Hansen, Ken Cutler, Anne Maree Munt and Wendy Pearcey who continue to make it to nearly every meeting even though they hold no official positions. Without their contributions we could not hold official meetings or make decisions as required by the club constitution.

In regards to the committee thanks go to Dale Munt, John Alexander and Kevin Pearcey for their events in their current roles. John and Kev have held these positions for a number of years continue to do a great job. While Dale is relatively new to the committee his contributions have been equally helpful and given the chance he will continue to assist the club over the coming years.

The clubs financial position has continued to improve slightly and while we are not rolling in it I would suggest the club is in a sound financial position.

From a personal perspective I would like to extend my thanks to those committee members and regular meeting attendees who have helped me in my role over the last few years.

Unfortunately my own personal circumstances have led me to being very slack with our website. I hope that given the chance I will be able to redeem myself and improve the website over the coming months.

These same circumstances mean that, as most of you are aware, I will not be standing for any committee positions this year. I also believe that new blood and fresh ideas may assist in moving the club forward. As I said I am happy to continue with the website if I am required but after twelve years as Vice President or President I think it is time to step back and just be a regular club member. Maybe after a few years I will be willing to assist again but for now it is time for someone else to take the reins.

While I have already thanked most of them on behalf of the club I would like to take the opportunity to pass on my personal thanks to those people who have helped me over the years. To Tony & Loll, Peter Hansen, John A, Terry Bielenberg, Kev and Wendy Pearcey, all who have been there for most, if not all, of the past twelve years please accept my personal thanks for all that you have done to assist me while I have been a committee member. Your help and counsel as well as the personal friendships I have developed are very much appreciated and mean a great deal to me.

Ken Cutler, Trevor Dick and Dale and Anne Maree Munt while being relatively new to the club have also assisted over recent years and this help and their friendships is also greatly appreciated.

To all committee members who I have worked with over the years, Thank you.

I firmly believe that the greatest asset within the club is the friendships that are formed between members. This is also the greatest achievement of the club. I have seen many friendships develop over the the years resulting in numerous groups enjoy trips, Social events and holidays away. This last twelve months alone I can think of four or five of these rides occurring and countless social interactions. To me this is proof that we have been doing something right and the club is serving a worthwhile purpose.

I thank the outgoing committee members for their work over the last year and wish the new committee all the best for their endeavours in the next twelve months. I am sure that with the support of the club members they will do a great job and continue to make our club the enjoyable entity that it has become. Again I hope you will all come along for the ride.
